How the program works
01

Site Walk

We visit your property, photograph entrances, and identify any signage gaps that would expose you to double fees under California law.

Free · 30-45 min
02

Service Agreement

Signed general authorization on file naming Active Towing as your designated operator. Clear scope, response times, and rates.

Per CVC §22658(l)(1)
03

On-Call Removal

Call or text 24/7. A property representative meets us on-site to verify the violation and sign the specific authorization before hookup.

Per CVC §22658(l)(1)(A)
04

Documented & Reported

We notify the local law enforcement agency within one hour, store the vehicle at a permitted facility, and handle owner reclaim per state rules.

Per CVC §22658(f)–(i)
03 · California Compliance

Built around the law, not around it.

Improper signage or unauthorized "patrol towing" can make a property liable for double the towing and storage fees — and turn into expensive lawsuits. Our entire program is engineered to keep you on the safe side of CVC §22658.

01

Compliant Signage Audit

State law requires a sign at least 17″ × 22″ with 1-inch lettering, in plain view at every entrance, prohibiting public parking and listing the local traffic enforcement phone number. We audit your property and tell you exactly what to add or fix.

CVC §22658(a)(1)
02

Written, Specific Authorization

Every tow gets its own signed authorization — make, model, VIN, plate, the violation grounds, the time first observed, and the time authorized. Generic blanket "tow at will" instructions are not allowed.

CVC §22658(l)(1)(A)
03

On-Site Representative Verification

An owner, agent, or designated employee must be on the property to confirm the violation before hookup. We coordinate with your team or after-hours contact to make this fast.

CVC §22658(l)(1)
04

One-Hour Police Notification

After we tow, the local law enforcement agency is notified within one hour with vehicle description, plate, location, and the storage destination — exactly as the statute requires.

CVC §22658(f)(1)
05

Storage Within Statutory Distance

Vehicles are stored at a properly permitted facility located within the statutory distance from the tow location, available for owner reclaim during state-required hours.

CVC §22658(i)
06

Owner Reclaim & Payment Rules

Cash, valid debit, and major credit cards accepted. No surcharges beyond what the statute allows. Owners get itemized receipts and a clear release process — keeping the property out of disputes.

05 · Operating Principles

Three things we don't compromise on.

It's a competitive industry. We win business by being faster, fairer, and more careful with people's vehicles than the next company on the list.

PRINCIPLE 01

Competitive, transparent pricing

Rates that respect the situation people are in. No bait-and-switch invoices, no inflated mileage, no surprise after-hours markups beyond what the statute allows.

PRINCIPLE 02

Customer satisfaction, every job

Whether it's a Tuesday-morning lockout or a 3 a.m. roadside breakdown, we treat the call like it matters — because for the person on the other end, it absolutely does.

PRINCIPLE 03

Rapid response, real ETAs

We tell you when we'll be there and we get there. The truck stays moving toward the call — no fake "10 minutes out" promises that turn into an hour of waiting.

06 · Two ways in
